CHALLENGE

Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, delivering critical solutions across energy and materials markets. 

Wood in Sweden approached Pangea Talent Solutions in 2023 for assistance in sourcing two contract managers for a critical refinery shutdown project. With the project nearing completion, Wood faced significant challenges, including managing complex claims from subcontractors as well as the main contractor. They had previously used other recruitment agencies and tried to find candidates themselves, with little success. Availability, immediate need and the quality of the candidates they were able to find meant they looked to Pangea for hiring support, finding candidates with complex claims experience.

Pangea employed a strategic approach to candidate sourcing, utilising internal CRM systems as well as headhunting techniques for these niche roles. George Ibbott, Senior Consultant, leveraged existing candidate relationships to find the most suitable candidates for Wood and successfully placed two contract managers in Sweden alongside his colleague 
Shraddha Sunuwar. 

George negotiated both candidates’ relocation packages; the roles were based in a remote Swedish town. The Pangea team supported the candidates to source accommodation, car rentals and in-country payroll solutions. This end-to-end service allowed Wood to mitigate delays for the start date. 

 

RESULTS

Through effective collaboration, Pangea was able to quickly source two contract managers for Wood in Sweden. Initial CV presentation to mobilisation took only two weeks. Pangea continues to support Wood on key projects within the energy sector, in numerous European locations, alongside exploring opportunities to support contract management at Wood globally.
