Battery Technology Leader

Technology Leader (Battery Materials) – based in the UAE

A fast-scaling battery materials business is hiring a VP Technology to lead the technology function through a critical scale-up—owning the production ramp-up of a new natural graphite processing facility in Abu Dhabi, then expanding into downstream technology leadership across product, process, and customer qualification.

• Own the scale-up: take a first-of-its-kind facility from commissioning into stable, high-yield production.
• Build the roadmap: shape the product + technology strategy for next-generation battery anode graphite.
• Create the function: build lab/QA capability and an efficient R&D organization with direct commercial impact.

Responsibilities:

• Lead operational readiness and ramp-up: robustness trials, yield/scrap improvement, SPC/DOE-driven optimization.
• Define and implement specifications and QA control plans (raw material, process, product) aligned to customer standards.
• Establish and lead lab operations (set-up, methods, hiring, compliance).
• Drive product and process development for market-competitive anode materials.
• Partner with customers on qualification, application support, and technical issue resolution.
• Support safety and compliance work including FMEA/HAZOP and permitting/engineering collaboration.
• Build external R&D partnerships, pursue funding, and manage IP/patent strategy.

Desired Background:

• Advanced degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field.
• Strong industrial technology background in battery materials and/or graphite processing, ideally with automotive/customer qualification exposure.
• Proven leadership of international teams (10+ people) and cross-functional stakeholder management.
• Comfortable applying DOE/SPC and structured problem-solving in production environments.
