Execution Trader

We are working with a highly entrepreneurial energy trading firm that is looking to add a Junior Energy Trader to its growing trading desk. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious trader with 2–5 years' experience who is looking to accelerate their development within a genuinely risk-taking environment.

Unlike traditional execution-only roles, this position offers a clear pathway towards managing risk and ultimately running your own trading book. The business actively supports high-performing individuals, providing the tools, mentorship and autonomy needed to progress into a risk-taking role.

The team consists of talented early-career traders who have joined from internships, trading houses and graduate programmes. The successful candidate will bring slightly more experience and market exposure, helping to strengthen the desk while continuing their own development.

The Role

The successful candidate will initially focus on trade execution and market support across European energy markets, primarily Gas and Power. However, the role is designed for individuals who want to develop into risk-taking traders.
As your experience and performance grow, you will be encouraged to generate trading ideas, take proprietary risk and ultimately manage your own book.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute trades across European Gas and/or Power markets.
• Support senior traders with market monitoring, analysis and trade implementation.
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of market fundamentals, positioning and price drivers.
• Identify trading opportunities and contribute ideas to the desk.
• Build relationships with brokers, counterparties and market participants.
• Assist with position monitoring, risk management and reporting.
• Progress towards independent risk-taking responsibilities following successful training and sign-off.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–5 years of trading experience.
• Experience within energy markets is strongly preferred, particularly:
  
  • Natural Gas
  • Power
  • Carbon
  • Oil
• Experience gained on a flow trading desk, proprietary trading desk or similar trading environment is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of market dynamics and risk management principles.
• Self-motivated, proactive and intellectually curious.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your development.
• Eligible to work in the European Union (EU passport holders only at this stage).
