Head of Origination – Power & Renewables (CESEE Region)
A leading pan-European energy trading company is seeking a Head of Origination to drive growth across Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (CESEE). This senior role combines strategic leadership, team building, and hands-on deal origination, covering both renewable and conventional power.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Market Expansion
• Define and execute the origination strategy across CESEE for renewable and conventional power
• Build senior relationships with developers, investors, asset owners, utilities, and large consumers
• Represent the company in client meetings, market events, and site visits to maintain a strong regional presence
Drive Deals & Transactions
• Own and oversee the full deal cycle: first contact → commercial terms → contract signing → delivery
• Structure and negotiate PPAs, RES offtake agreements, BESS tolling, balancing, and route-to-market deals
• Collaborate with trading, analytics, risk, and legal teams to design commercially strong agreements and manage risk
Lead the Team & Portfolio Growth
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing origination team across the region
• Expand the portfolio with both renewable and conventional power volumes
• Work closely with trading to optimise positions, capture market opportunities, and contribute directly to PnL
Product Development & Market Intelligence
• Identify gaps and emerging opportunities across European power markets
• Develop innovative commercial products to attract developers, investors, and large energy consumers
• Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership to shape regional strategy
Requirements
• Proven experience in power origination, trading, or commercial energy roles, ideally with both RES and conventional power
• Track record of structuring and closing complex deals
• Strong leadership experience with team building and mentoring capabilities
• Entrepreneurial, self-driven, and able to operate with high autonomy
• Deep understanding of PPAs, BESS tolling, balancing, route-to-market structures, and power market risk
