About the Role
Lead Originator – Renewable PPAs & Market Structuring

About the Role

We are partnering with a major European energy player to drive a flagship 300 MW green hydrogen and clean energy infrastructure project in North-West Germany. We are seeking a Lead Originator – Renewable Power & Structuring to take full commercial ownership of the upstream feedstock layer.

In this role, you will lead the identification, negotiation, and execution of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with wind and solar developers. You will ensure that all electricity sourcing structures comply strictly with EU RFNBO criteria (RED II/III) and 24/7 temporal matching regulations to guarantee bankable green hydrogen production.

Key Responsibilities

  • PPA Origination & Execution: Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations for utility-scale off-shore/on-shore wind and solar PPAs across Germany and regional European markets.
  • RFNBO & Regulatory Compliance: Structure electricity supply frameworks to comply with EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) standards, additionality requirements, and temporal/geographic correlation rules.
  • Power-to-Gas Structuring: Collaborate with internal energy management and trading teams to design power-shaping, hedging, and flexibility strategies tailored to large-scale electrolyzer operations.
  • Commercial Modeling & Risk Management: Evaluate long-term power price risks, profile risks, cannibalization effects, and guarantee-of-origin (GO) structures to maximize project bankability.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with renewable project developers, utilities, grid operators (TSOs/DSOs), and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of proven commercial origination experience in European energy markets, specifically focusing on renewable PPAs (off-shore/on-shore wind, PV) and power-to-X applications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of EU RFNBO criteria, RED II/III delegated acts, BImSchG quotas, and Guarantee of Origin (GO) trading.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong track record of structuring complex energy contracts, financial modeling, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Language: Professional fluency in German and English.
