About the Role

A rapidly growing energy storage company headquartered in New York is commercializing a next-generation rechargeable battery technology that offers a safer, more sustainable, and more affordable alternative to lithium-ion. Their platform supports residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications—helping to solve critical challenges in grid reliability, decarbonization, and battery safety.
With momentum building and product development advancing quickly, the company is seeking a strategic technical leader to guide innovation and scale.

The company is hiring a VP or C-Level Technical Leader to own the full scope of technology and product strategy across its energy storage systems. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and brings deep experience across system design, power electronics, and team leadership.
While power electronics (especially controllers and inverters) are central to the work, this role spans the entire energy storage system—from architecture and controls to full-scale product development and commercialization. You’ll guide the technical direction, mentor an engineering team, and serve as a key interface with partners and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s technology roadmap, aligning with commercial goals.
  • Lead design and development across the full system—including power electronics, controls, and system architecture.
  • Oversee product development from concept through prototyping, testing, and commercialization.
  • Build and lead a high-performing technical team; foster a collaborative, innovative culture.
  • Collaborate with the executive team on business strategy, partnerships, and go-to-market plans.
  • Represent the company at industry events, in customer meetings, and throughout the ecosystem.
  • Support the transition from lab-scale technology to scalable, manufacturable systems.

Required Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in power electronics, with expertise in controller and inverter design.
  • Proven leadership experience in energy storage or related hardware technology fields.
  • Demonstrated success leading end-to-end product development and commercialization.
  • Track record of building and leading technical teams in dynamic, early-stage environments.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to be based in New York, with occasional hybrid flexibility.

Preferred (but not required)

  • Experience with alternative battery chemistries (e.g., zinc-based, aqueous, non-lithium).
  • Familiarity with both grid-tied and standalone storage applications.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $250,000–$300,000
  • Equity: Competitive early-stage stock option package
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, and 401(k)

Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to lead from the front at a company developing a truly differentiated battery technology. You’ll have the runway to influence product direction, guide a growing technical team, and help scale a platform that could play a pivotal role in the clean energy transition. If you’re ready to turn deep technical experience into industry-wide impact—this is it.
