VP Engineering opportunity for a company at the forefront of Distributed Energy
Lead engineering at the forefront of distributed energy, owning the technical direction from concept through commissioning across CHP, fuel cells, linear generators, BESS, solar and geothermal. This role reports directly to the CEO and will have real influence on how projects are designed, built, and delivered.
My client is a fast- growing distributed energy developer delivering behind-the-meter, on-site power and thermal solutions that improve resilience, cost, and decarbonization for commercial and industrial clients. The culture is entrepreneurial and delivery-led, with engineering highly visible to leadership - real ownership from concept through commissioning, and the opportunity to help shape standards, partners, and processes as the platform scales.

An opportunity to lead and scale the engineering function delivering DER solutions for client operation - setting standards, driving quality, and ensuring engineering excellence across partners, suppliers, and project teams.
- Lead engineering processes for design, specifications, construction support, QA/QC, and commissioning
- Own conceptual design by assessing client needs and selecting the right DER architecture
- Direct internal/external engineering teams to ensure work meets design intent and specifications
- Oversee scopes of work, equipment specs, QA/QC requirements, and commissioning procedures
- Partner with procurement/engineering/construction to build work plans, schedules, and solutions
- Help identify and qualify new engineering, supplier, and construction partners
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
- 10–15+ years in energy systems design & construction, including 5+ years in leadership
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
- Strong grasp of mechanical & electrical fundamentals of distributed energy systems
- Confident, client-facing communicator with a proactive problem-solving mindset
- Tools: MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD
