Build the Future of BESS & Microgrids - Vice President Preconstruction Opportunity
I’m working with a high-growth US distributed energy business that’s expanding its portfolio of BESS and microgrid projects. They’re hiring a VP of Preconstruction, reporting directly to the CEO, offering the opportunity to lead and build out the preconstruction function while playing a key role in the company’s continued growth and project delivery strategy. This is an opportunity to take a pivotal leadership role in shaping and scaling the preconstruction function, influencing project strategy and helping drive the company’s next stage of growth across a diverse portfolio of energy technologies
The remit spans estimating that project planning, engineering coordination, procurement strategy, value engineering, EPC contracting and commercial proposals, ensuring projects move from initial customer engagement through to commercially viable, executable delivery plans. A key priority is developing the preconstruction approach to support the company's expanding distributed BESS pipeline.
Required Experience:
- Industry Tenure: Minimum 10–15 years of project and/or construction management experience, with at least 5 years leading preconstruction activities
- Sector Experience: Proven track record delivering complex energy or infrastructure projects.
- EPC Knowledge: Deep understanding of EPC contract structures and delivery methods
- Negotiation: Exceptional skills in contract negotiation, commercial terms, and vendor management
What makes this particularly interesting is the opportunity to building the function rather than simply manage individual projects influencing project economics, risk, commercial strategy and delivery capability as the business grows.
The role is ideally hybrid near New York or Chicago, although fully remote could be considered for the right individual.
