Supply and Trading - Pangea Gas/LNG brochure

Recent years have seen extreme events hugely impacting the gas markets, with prices and price volatility at levels never seen before.

The conflict in Ukraine has major implications for European gas supplies who are now reducing their dependency on Russian gas, increasing imports from alternative sources like the U.S., Norway, and Qatar. Asia’s gas demand is rising, driven by economic growth and urbanisation whilst China is investing in both domestic production and international gas projects, aiming to secure long-term supplies.

The LNG market has undergone a major shift in recent years too. The need to supply gas from sources other than Russia saw Europe as the biggest LNG importer in 2023. Once a relatively niche sector, it has evolved into a foundation of the global energy trading landscape, as countries seek to diversify their energy sources. In the US there’s increasing interest around Asian LNG analytics specifically in India, Japan, China and South Korea. Tensions, too, in the Middle East are impacting supply stability. This has led to a surge in LNG infrastructure development, from liquefaction plants to import terminals.
