Vice President Engineering

My client is a growing distributed energy developer and solutions provider helping commercial and industrial clients cut energy cost and carbon through on-site generation, storage, and integrated DER infrastructure. They are looking to hire a VP Engineering will lead the engineering function and drive best-in-class execution across a portfolio of distributed energy projects. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role spanning design governance, partner management, and delivery oversight, that reports directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering strategy, process, and standards across the project lifecycle (conceptual + detailed design through commissioning support)
• Own system design direction: equipment sizing, specifications, QA/QC requirements, and commissioning procedures
• Manage internal/external engineering partners to ensure work meets design intent, codes, and project requirements
• Collaborate with procurement and construction partners on work plans, schedules, issue resolution, and execution readiness
• Help identify, evaluate, and qualify new engineering, supplier, and construction partners
• Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded through strong deliverables and communication

Desired Background / Experience:

• 10–15+ years in relevant energy system design & construction, including 5+ years in a leadership role
• Strong fundamentals across mechanical/electrical aspects of distributed energy systems
• Confident, client-facing leader with a proactive, solutions-first approach
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, small-team environment; able to operate independently when needed
• Working proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD
