We are partnering with a trading merchant who has one of the largest US Power and renewable asset portfolios.
Responsibilities:
- There are risks associated with that portfolio, as well as 24/7 Power. Therefore, the quantitative analyst is responsible for building the models, analyzing the models/risk, as well as help with management of positions.
- Model/analyze the price and generated PPA for wind and solar assets across the US.
- Modeling and understanding the risk as generated by PPA i.e. how do you price the fact that wind is always blowing or congestion risk, the nodal risk at the asset.
- The firm already has generated positions that they are actively managing. Goal is to increase that platform and number of deals per year to create more deal flow across entire US.
- Able to grow into risk taking seat, when platform is built out to eventually help with management of positions.
Must have requirements:
- Computer science or mathematics background/degree.
- Ability to code in Python. Part of interview process will be coding test.
- 2-6 years of US Power experience. US Power Real World.
- Eager to learn and help build up the function. Comfortable building the system/models. “Ok with being wrong, making mistakes.” Have to help build first, before getting the opportunity to trade.
- Derivatives/options modeling or financial engineering
- Ability to understand nonlinearity (of short) option or production as generated by wind or solar farm but also ability to picture if there is a wind or solar farm here, there will be a production profile of risk here.
